Ok, Christmas on. I am starting my Christmas project now. Funny huh. Actually, I am sure I will start giving them away before Christmas. I made some checkbook covers and matching pen. I tried making some "manly" ones but still don't like it so much. The dimension for the check book cover is 6 1/8" x 3 3/8". Eventually I figured out I could cut the designer paper at 6 x 3 1/4 and the card stock at 6 1/8" x 3 3/8" to save on the designer paper. I am planning to make a few hundred of this before Christmas along with some cards. Only thing is time is against me. Hopefully, I can get them all done.

Notebook gift

I always forget to write down the paper size for covering composition books. I give these away these for gifts all the time with a matching pen.

It is 8 1/2" x 11". I fold it over the cover after spraying on the adhesive.

I found couple of videos on Youtube.com that did it differently. A lady did one by cutting the 12" x 12" in half and adding a strip to cover the remaining section. Another lady actually painted the notebook after sanding the composition book down inside and outside. I like both ideas and will be trying them out. :-)

Calendar 2012 - Christmas Project

Ok, I started this project wayyyyy too late. I tried typing out the caledar on Word then added computer graphics (clip art) appropriate for each month. First I made it about business card size then made them bigger to fit the easel better. I actually like the small ones. I kept one of the small ones. To cut then to glue the colored papers in the back took wayyyyy too long. So simple but took time. Hopefully I will put my daughter to work next year. She would have just turned six. I definitely want to do the project again.

All the months fits into 8 1/2" x 11". I cut them business card size (little smaller) at 1 7/8" x 3 1/4" the background paper is cut at 2 1/8" x 3 1/2". For the bigger calendar four months fit into one paper and I cut them 4" x 3 1/2". The background paper was cut at 4 1/4" x 3 3/4". This gave 1/8" margins all around.

Christmas Tag 2012

Chirstmas tags for the party. I cut up sizzix die boxes (clear plastic) to make the tags then used White StazOn for white snow flakes and shade the edges. Used sparkles on the flakes, stamp, color, and cut the Christmas Tree. Found a reindeer online, colored it then cut. Added golden strings on the tree, added red glitter nose on the reindeer then star on the tree. Finally added the phrase and the "to/from." Oh, yes. I added the bells. Ok, this took a long time. Because it's clear I had to do the same to the back side to not show the stickies. Cutting took longer than I expected but it turned out pretty. I hope other crafters like it too.

I have been creating but have not been uploading. Is there a way to take a picture and upload directly to the blog without the computer? My computer has been slowing down and it's taking time to download then upload. Maybe I just got to find a way to kill that (download/upload) time. Jumping Jacks? You think I am joking but I am not. Now that's funny.

Here are some Christmas cards I made which I started to give away. I made quite a lot (50+) with different designs but they are all simple like these. I especially like the reindeer one (I stamped reindeer instead of the Christmas tree).

Ok, I forgot to bring my camera to Jeannie's House for CTMH open house but thankfully, she has a blog and had uploaded some pix online. I was able to buy some stamps and papers at super price ($1) but not only that I saw some really new cool boxes in the catalog along with this month's stamp, Wicked. It totally reminded me of the musical we just saw so I decided to buy it. Jeannie not only provided us with bargain, food, goodies, and a catalog but also had project to do. We used Cricket to make the french fries box. It was super fast. Now I am so tempted to buy the cricket expression.

I found some pretty papers to cover my composition books and notebooks. Also I am finally done making all those post-it covers. I think I made at least 50 of these. They are so pretty to give away as presents. Amuse Studio's X-tra large cello bags are perfect size for composition book and a pen; Large size is perfect for that small notebook and a pencil; and Medium size is perfect for most card projects.

Ok, I have been thinking and thinking. I finally found a company that I felt I could work for. I became a consultant for Amuse Studio (A|S). I love everything that they have. I love their colors (ink pads), Copic markers, nestability dies and of course, their stamps really won me over. Currently they are running a special on their consultant starter kit. I received mine Monday and having fun playing with them. Let me know if you are interested. I will help you get started. I think it was worth it to sign up. I had to make Easter gifts for my daughter's preschool friends so I used some of Amuse stamps and ink to make tags. I love how juicy the ink pads are yet they dry very quickly once stamped. Colors are very pretty too.

I was not able to attend the party this month. We were at the beach with my nieces. Older one, Rebekah, I have not seen in three years ever since she moved to Korea to sing for a pop group called "AfterSchool." I am glad we were able to spend some time together.

We had our annual Christmas Party @ Kahili restaurant last Sunday. Yay! It was so much fun. Harriet, our game queen, prepared everything. I won the last game where we had to guess who made each tag. Last week, I saw a YouTube video on using the Owl punch with TomBo glue and piercing tool. It looked so easy that I decided to give it a try. It was pretty simple. I made about 50 owls watching my Korean Drama (Jumong). :-) Aren't they cute?

Wow, Christmas is just around the corner and I just wrapped my daughter's Christmas gift. Here are three projects from this month's Stampin' Up. My favorite is the Christmas tree. It is made to hold a tealight candle- so pretty when illuminated. Plus, an acrylic box made from Jeannie. Jeannie said she made it from Sizzix boxes which the dies come in. Isn't she amazing!

Ok. I am almost there. Little more of my scrap projects. Don't you love the bird punch from Stampin' Up? I personally never was into birds but I think this one is cute.

Ok, I made this project before our Stampin' up party. I cannot believe that I made a card so similar. I must have seen it done somewhere before.

This one is one of my favorites. I really like the red brads. I colored the petal and the stems with pastel. I have been wanting to use them for awhile.

I really like this "Live with Passion" stamp set. Such a pretty stamp! You dont' have to do much. It's hard to see but I have acryli card underneath.

I used scraps from my mini notebook project (origami papers). I like my sympathy cards to be simple.

Well, here are my projects. I really needed to get my scrap papers organized. Of course in the process, I started to "craft." Here are some of what I created. I decided to group the scraps by colors. I think I will add ribbon scraps there as well. This way I will actually use the scraps.

We had a great time crafting last Saturday. It was really good seeing everyone. We made five note cards and a box to contain them. We also made cup insulator with tag (but I forgot to bring back mine). There are new "in-colors." I beginning to really like the new Stampin' up color combinations.

Well, we are saying farewell to our monthly meeting. So sad.... :( We did a card exchange on the last day. Lynette made a pretty bag for all of us with a matching tag and a cute little 6 x 6 album. Soooo cute.

Here are the cards we made on our last meeting. I was the host. I did not cook but instead ordered party platter from Zippy's. I think I should have cooked.

Don't they look so sophisticated? I really love the "thoughts" stamp set. Love the stamp. Below is the card from Helen.

It's hard to see but it's really delicate looking. So nice. Next is from Cleo. She gave us other brads too. I will try and put them together soon and upload again. Colors are so pretty.

Card Kits from CTMH

In preparing for next year, I bought some card kits from CTMH when they had a big sale this Christmas (along with some stamps). It was easy to put together and took almost no time at all.

Simple gifts

Here are couple of things I gave out this year. I saw these cute candy towers at Walmart (only $3). I took the candy that was in there and swapped it with my favorites (coffee candy, peppermint candy and some chocolate filled marshmallows) then made a simple tag to go along with the candy (I actually had snowman tags for snowman towers but just ran out). It's hard to see but I added liquid glass to the beak and the feet.

Second one are mini composition books I made for Devynn and Kiley. I hope they like them.

I was so late to the Stampin' Up party. My other work-related meeting ran sort of long. All the cards were already made except for the ornament card (silver/gold) below. I made it with the template Kim gave. Mahalo Kim. Not sure what else to do. I will add some kind of embellishment.

Pizza Box with a window tutorial

Pizza box with a window for my notepad/pen set. It only took one 81/2"x11" and it was so quick.

1. Score 81/2"x11" CS at 1", 5", 6", and 10" then 1" each on the other sides.

2. Cut slits as shown.

3. Score 1/2 from the sides of one of the big rectangles.

4. Cut the scored lines to make the window

5. Attach a transparency of 6 1/2" x 4" to the open window.

6. Place your gift and place a ribbon.

Pizza box for notepad/pen set

Ok. I had to make a lot of boxes for the notepads and had to figure out a way to do it fast (and simple). I made a pizza box out of 8.5" x 11" cardstock papers. Score at 1", 5", 6", and 10" then turn the paper to score 1" on two sides of the other side. Super simple and super fast. Lastly cut out a window and add the transparency. I just scored 1/2" from the edge all around then cut it with a xacto knife. Last a red ribbon bow. Voila, I am done. I am so happy I've found a real quick way to do this.

I tried to package the notepad and the pen set in a plastic bag but it did not look very good so I decided to make a gift box. I made the cover and the box the same size and found that (of course) it was a little snug. I will try again this week. I saw this pretty mini "clip board" from Kim's blog last Christmas and have been wanting to try them out for awhile. I think it came out really cute. BTW, Jeannie this is what I did with the rectangular coasters. Thank you. I think I will make a matching pen and give them away as Christmas gifts. Oh, yes, I need to start on that.

Happy Halloween! - Halloween Goodie bags

I made a few Halloween goodie bags for other children at my son's sitter's. I filled each bag with a bag of veggie chip, chocolate milk, soda crackers, and fruit roll up. For my daughter, I made a small goodie bag (clear plastic) with a Halloween tag and filled it with a juice pouch and a rainbow goldfish for her preschool friends. No pix, however. BTW, I absolutely love "old olive" and " pumpkin pie." Don't you?

Here is the card I will be sending to Shilo for my October OCS. I am going to also send a Halloween tag I made from Kim's October kit. I hope you like them, Shilo. I used my Sizzix to cut out all of the pictures you see except for the little cat and the sentiment. It's hard to see but I used dimensionals for the house, the bat, and the ribbon.

Helen, I made a Halloween card for you. Thanks for the wite-out. :-)What do you think about the color combination? Someone once told me that you cannot go wrong with old olive and I am beginning to believe it.

Stampin Up Party - 10/17/09

I was so busy last Saturday that JoAnn O. had to make my cards while I went to drop my mom off at the airport. Aren't the cards so darling? I love them. We also made flowers out of scallop punch and pixie stick (scallop was the flower and the pixie stick was the stem). I thought that was very clever especially for a little girl's birthday parties. Kim also gave us bunch of embossed cards. They are super pretty. I think I will use one of them for my OCS. I know I am super late. I thought I would get it done last weekend but it is taking me another week. Thank goodness we have until the end of this month.

Here is a little gift from Diane O. She just joined us this year and look what she is creating already. It's a little slider. There is a small tin filled with candy hiding behind the wrapper. So cute... :-)

50 Christmas Cards Marathon

Ok, so Jeannie was doing another 50 cards workshop so I had to go. Crazy, right? We love it though. This time I brought my mom who was visiting me. My new cutting machine & need your advice

My QuicKutz Silhouette arrived this weekend. I just tried it out and I love it. I am thinking this just might replace my cricket. I love the fact that I can connect it to the computer to manipulate its size and shapes.

BTW, I need your advice. If anyone is reading this post, can you leave me a comment regarding a good color printer for digital scrapbooking. This means the color ink has to be reasonably priced. I am willing to pay a higher price for the printer if it will save me money on the ink in the long run. Thanks.

CS is cut to 8 1/2" x 4 1/2"; scored at half way 4 1/4" to fold it in half then scored at 3" long way to make the flap for the gift card slot. Brad is used to hold up the flap. I really need some "blue tone" DSP.

Next is an image I colored using Marvy markers. I do not have copics like many of you out there but still wanted to color some images after being inspired by so many people coloring their images. The stamp is from Lynette who was giving away lots of stamps at our last stampin' up party. Mahalo Lynette.

Quilt Card Tutorial + Elena's Butterfly

Here is the tutorial for the Quilt Card. I am using a crochet butterfly I won from Elena's Bearsaurus blog. If you've never checked out her blog before, you just must. She is incredibly talented.

1. Cut a piece of CS paper to 5" x 5". You can use a left over CS. I did. Remember, you will not see this paper so you can pick any color you like.

2. Using a 1 1/4" square punch, punch out DP and card stock papers of coordinated colors from your scrap pile. I used my Sizzix Texturz plates to give my CS more character.

3. Assemble the small squares. After you've found the layout(quilt) you like, paste them down with glue stick.

4. Using Sizzix bigshot Stampin' Up Top note die, cut the quilt.

5. Embellish quilt with a ribbon, a greeting, and/or accessories. Paste it onto a card and you are done. Helen, do you like it? This is for you. I will put in your mailbox tomorrow morning. Isn't the butterfly just so lovely?

Stampin Up Party - 08/08/09

It was so much fun this Saturday. Lynette, thanks for all the goodies and yummies. Lynette showed us how to make a favor using two rolled up wash clothes (from Walmart). Simply roll up two wash clothes; wrap it in clear cellophane; then wrap it in crimpered paper; tie a bow; and finally put a small flower on top. Isn't it just darling? You can add a small note under the bow regarding the event. Great idea for all kinds of parties.

Jackie was the demonstrator for the party. She showed us how to make the two cards below. They are both so cute and simple to make. The first card used a quilt effect and the second one, glitter. I usually do not like to work with glitter but it wasnt' as messy as I expected.

I thought the quilting idea was so neat that I came home and did a quick one using my scraps of DP. It was really simple. I will post a tutorial on the next blog. I used a heavy weight cardstock so am going use this one as a card (to write to my daughter's teachers).

Time is just flying by. I started working again and hadn't had time to post. Here is a Post-It Cover I made. I ended up attaching it to my planner for this school year. I am still not quite satisfied with the pen holder but it will do for this year. I might try buying some thick white rubber band and dying it pink. We will see. Oh, I bought a glue glider. It arrived couple days ago and I cannot wait to try it!!!

Compostion book, pen, and paper clip

So... I could not figure out a good way to attach matching pen but I did make matching notebook, pen, and paper clip set. I made five different ones to give to Anica's five preschool teachers - to start the year off with a pretty set of paper goods. Let me know if you know an easy way to attach a pen to the composition notebook. Don't you love those pens? I made more with extra papers left and will be making a matching Post It cover & paper clip for Christmas gift sets. BTW, this project takes a lot of glue. I am thinking about getting those big glue tape dispensers.

Before I forget the dimensions on the composition book cover - 6x10 for DS (front and back) so cut 2" off on one side 12" x 12" then cut in half. For the spine,he dimension is 4" x 10" (or 4 1/4" x 10). cut 1" off of 11" side and then cut in half if you are using 8 1/2" x 11" card stocks.

Covering a pen with designer paper

I am using Pentel's RSVP pens so the measurement is 3 1/4" x 1". Other two pens you can use are Dynagrip by papermate and Foray. Use 3" x1" for them. I found a tutorial on Youtube but having a hard time embedding it here.

Covering Large Composition notebook

I saw some Hello Kitty themed covered composition notebooks at a craft booth last Sunday and thought of doing them for gifts. I found that Joy's blog also had pretty covered notebooks (small) which were darling as well. Check out her site. She is currently celebrating her blog anniversary with some yummy candy.

As you know those large compositions notebooks are on sale now (cheapest at Kmart & officemax but there is a limit of 6 at Officemax). I bought a bunch and am planning to cover them tonight. Below is the tutorial on covering them from Youtube. I am planning to add a ribbon on the side so I can place a pen with the notebook.

Korean Chop Chae Recipe for Lynn

Do you have a sister-in-law who give you a back massage? I do. Am I blessed or what? Thanks Lynn for embracing me as a sister. Here is the Korean chop chae recipe you wanted. Nothing is set in stone. I "eyeball" everything so cannot tell you the exact measurements. Try it out and let me know how it turns out. I am planning to try out Mom's jellyroll soon. I will let you know how it turned out.

Ingredients

vegetable Oil
sesame oil
salt
garlic
soy sauce (I use kikkomen if I have but you can use any other brand you like. I used Aloha shoyu when I was out of kikkomen)
2 onions; sliced vertically
6 pieces shitake mushrooms; sliced thinly (stem removed)
1 carrot; shredded
5 bundles of spinach
1/2 lb sirloin beef
4 eggs
sesame seeds (toasted) - optional
green onion

Instructions

It's really simple to make it but it takes time to prep all the veggies. Korean love their veggies. What can I tell you. I use vegetable oil to fry prepped carrot, onion, and shitake mushroom (I use dried kind - just soak it in water overnight) individually. I use salt to season. The colors are so lovely. I soak cook spinach in boilng water - more like blanching (in and out) to retain its color and nutrients. Wash in cool water; squeeze out the water (very important to squeeze all the water out); then season with minced garlic, salt, sesame seed oil, and sesame seed. Prep the eggs by frying it flat then slicing them into thin strips (season with salt) then prep your beef by slicing them into thin strips; seasoning with salt then frying them in vegetable oil. Taste each one as you cook. You can prep all these the night before. These are also good to eat on their own.

Lastly cook the noodle just before the event/dinner (maybe 2-3 hours). You can cook it as directed on the package - cook in boiling water. What I found that worked better is that you do not wash it in cold water. Cook in slightly underdone then leave it in the colander to cook all the way as it dries. If you wash it in cold water, the noodles becomes too fat and does not retain that elasticity. You can try them both ways.

Once the water is drained, add all of the ingredients and mix. Add soy sauce and saseme seed oil to taste. You can add sesame seed and green onion as garnish. Let me know if you have questions.

Back from the cruise & visit to Michael's

We just came back from a three week trip to the mainland (Seattle/Tacoma). Of the three weeks, we spent one week in Alaska/Victoria on a Princess Cruise ship (star princess). We liked this cruise a lot more than Holland cruise we took for our honeymoon. We embarked from Seattle and visited Ketchikan, Tracy Arm, Juneau, Skagway, Victoria. I have a lot of pictures from the trip and will be busy scrapbooking. I will try to make a real simple one so I have this trip scrapbooked before I go back to work.

BTW, on this trip I was able to visit Michael's in South Hill. I did not have much time to shop so I bought some Designer papers and stamps. I wish I had more time and wish Michael's would come to Maui.

Direction for Father's Day Toolbox

This toolbox was super easy to put together. What takes time is attaching the letters "HAPPYFATHERSDAY" and embellishments. This box has no embellishments.

1. You will need two sheets of standard 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, a few strips of designer paper (or scraps you really want to use up), & big brads (2) - optional.

2. With the first cardstock, you will make the base of the toolbox. Cut a 1/2" off the paper to create a 8" x 11" paper. Score 2" on all sides. Cut on two sides and attach flaps to create a small rectangular box (6" x 4" x 2") using the double sided sticky tape.

3. Using the second sheet of cardstock, you will make all the other parts of the box. Cut at 2.5" then remeasure and cut at 5" . This will give you three rectacgles with the measurements 8.5" x 2.5", 8.5" x 3.5", and 8.5 x 5".
4. With the first piece (8.5" x 2.5"), you will make the handle. Score every 1/2" (hamburger fold) then 3/4" on each sides. Cut out the small portion on the sides as shown (this part will attach to the box). Fold and assemble.5. With the second piece (8.5" x 3.5"), you will make the divider. My divider is shorter but you can make it taller. Cut the strip at 1/2" so the measurement is 8.5" x 3". Score at 3/4" on each sides (this part will attach to the box).6. With the last piece (8.5" x 5"), you will make the sides of the tool box. Cut off 1/2" so the piece is 8" x 5". Cut again in half to give two rectangle pieces 4" x 5". Cut them so it looks like tags. Height of the tool box is 5" and you can shape the sides any way you want. If you like you can even leave the sides as rectangles. Lower height (rectangle part) of the sides is 3".7. Assemble the toolbox then add the embellishements, designer papers, and cut out letters. A gold brad is added inside the handle to keep the handle intact. For the dimensions for designer paper - make two pieces just smaller than 7" x 2" for the front and back panels and one just smaller than 7" x 1/2" for the handle.

When all the goodies inside are gone, it can be used as a desktop organizer. Maybe I will place a picture of our family somewhere. Almost forgot, I added a coupon book for my husband, too.

Father's Day Gift - Leslie's Stampin Up Party

I had no idea what to get my husband for Father's Day. Well, Leslie came to the rescue. Her projects for this month were Father's Day gifts. Hooray! My favorite is the tool box. Isn't it so cute? Of course in a very masculine way. I will upload the direction to make the tool box in the next posting. I added some of my husbands favorite snacks (not in the picture)- corn nuts, sunflower seeds, and beef jerky. I hope he likes them.

Other than the tool box, we made a Father's Day Card (we used Sizzix textuz plate to create the texture on the chocolate paper)

one scrapbook page and a candy box (with matchbox die from Sizzix) - don't have the picture for that. It was a lot of fun. Thanks, Leslie.

Baby Shower Gift

I saw this baby shower gift idea at Jan Tapler's blog. She made a matching card, box, and an onesie for her co-worker's baby shower. I thought it was just so brilliant so I gave it a try.

Well, the card and the bag wasn't too hard but the onesie..... was another story. I had a really hard time using the iron-on transfer paper. Out of five, two onesies survived. The transfer paper kept sticking to the parchment paper instead of the onesie when I followed the direction given. So... I flipped the tranfer paper over. The image did stick but looked so pale. :-( Notice I did not take pictures of them.

I emailed Jan and she told me I have to try them out a few times to get everything just right. Also, living in Hawaii, the humidity really does not help as well with the process. Jan, thanks for all your tips. Check out Jan's website for her beautiful work.

I made couple of really simple cards for a challenge at SOA (Stamping Out Alzheimer) but ended up not uploading it there. The challenge was to create a card using one color, one stamp, one embellishment and one ribbon. Pretty simple, huh. I like the way they came out. I used white stazon.

Last day at Parenting Class

Today's last day at Parenting for REAL. I bought some toothbrushes for Anica's friends and wrapped it up last night (actually 2am this morning). I stamped "friend" tag image on an acetate using white Stazon then punched it out with a tag punch. I colored the back of the image as well. It's hard to see in the picture but I think it came out very cute.

Stampin Up Party - 05/16/09

This was our last party for this school year. So as it was planned we did our card swap. It was great. So many neat ideas. So simple yet so elegant. Aren't they pretty? :-) I really can't choose a favorite.

For our project, we made a lot of clever cards. One that's not in the picture is using bleach to stamp instead of ink. I tried it at home but it did not quite work. I should ask Kim again - I was not listening carefully apparently. The first card (on the left - white) opens up in the middle. I will make another card to show how that works. Second one with a red cellophane is a secret message card. The message "Wild About You" is hidden but appears when you use the red cellophane filter. Last card is a little album made with a piece of 8 1/2" x 11". It has eight pages. It makes a nice mini album.

Happys Mother's Day

This morning my daughter tells me "Happy smothers day!" It was just so cute. I knew what she meant but I could resist asking her to repeat. When she said it slowly I learned that she was actually saying "Happys Mothers day." I guess in her little world, everything sort of rhymes.

My husband brought me some take outs (I did not want to go out since my mouth was still swollen from crown lengthening done on Friday) and an ice cream cake. He loves surprising me. I think it really makes him happy. He also got me couple of really cute cards. In the Snoopy card which Anica picked out (She loves Peanuts), Anica wrote her name all by herself and started writing "LOVE" (I am assuming) but stopped after LO. I love you too my little girl. I am so blessed. To all mothers, "Happys Mothers Day" to you.

My card box using 12x12 DS paper

I made my card boxes after watching the tutorial on youtube (see previous posting). I did not have the proper ribbons or flowers. I used the wild wasabi double stitch ribbon which is not quite the same green (I think this DS paper is old olive but not sure). The flowers are made from 5-petal flower punch from Stampin up. I trimmed the flowers to make it look more like plumeria flowers then added wild wasabi ink using a dauber (tutorial for this can be found in Paper Pusher blog - see my list of favorite blogs). The sentiment is from Stampin Up rub-on I received from the hostess set last month (my first time using a rub-on on a project).

Below is the second box I made. I am not sure if I like the handles on the first one. Maybe I will place them on the sides and place just one handle. Here I used Sizzix big shot to cut out a frame and punched out some flowers from the same designer paper. Added some bling and I am done. The owl is from the same rub-on as the first box. I put it on a transparency then glued it to the frame. I think I will be using more rub-ons since it can go on acetates. I really like the transparency of acetate paper.

As I am looking at the box now, I think I should have added more dimensions. And maybe a shaker box in the back? Lots of ideas so little time. :-)

Baby Shower Card for May Card Swap

I have been wanting to work with acetate sheets for some time now. I just really love the transparency of acetate sheets. I tried a few variations of colors and decided to stick with the card below for the May 16th card swap. I am going to try and make some extras to give away as Christmas presents for my in-laws. Oh, I did not do it here but I am going to stamp a baby chart stamp on the back of the pink background paper so the recipient of th ceard can keep the newborns' vital information (height, weight, date of birth, etc) and use it for their baby's 1st year scrapbook (that way the card will not be trashed but reused).

Below is a picture of different color combinations I tried out. I cannot wait to see everyone's cards.

Direction for making the note card holder

1. Use yellow ink to color around two square coaster; glue yellow card stock to both sides of the coaster; cut around each corner to match the card stock to the coaster.

2. Attach two clothespins on the back of one coaster using double sided tape (foam). I stacked two small pieces on top and three on the bottom. In the picture below, I used two on top and one + rubber stamp remnants (w/o the rubber) on the bottom.

3. Place glue on the other side of clothespin and attach your other coaster. Adjust slightly to make sure they are even when set standing.

4. Cut a card stock 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and another card stock (of coordinating color) 3 3/8" x 3 3/8". Glue them onto the coaster.

5. Add whatever design you want to the front of the coaster.

Doesn't that sound so simple? Yet, it took me a long time. Enjoy.

Note holder - thank you for the party

I was planning to post this last night but we were super tired after getting home from watching Danny proctor a black belt testing upcountry at Seabury Hall. I really needed my sleep after kids went to bed. Below are the pictures of my note holders. I initially wanted to make these for last year's Christmas but never got to finish them. Well, now I am done (made two more that are not in the picture) and will be passing them out to our Stampin' Up members as a "thank-you" for the last party I hosted.

I saw a note holders at Lee-Bears (Candy/Chocolate Store) & thought I could easily make them. I purchase one at $3; thought about how to make it; then just did it. I used my Sizzix bigshot to cut the little animals for the project. Each one is slightly different because I was trying out different techniques and different color schemes.

For the very first one (white bear), I ran a piece of paper through the xyron (repositionable); added black paper in the back for the eyes; then used white pen to mark the eyes. However, after seeing Jackie's favor, I decided to simplify. First I did not put it through the xyron but used dimensionals to give the animal cut out more 3D effect and furthermore colored in the eyes with markers and colored some of the parts (like the ribbon) to given them some personality. My favorite turned out to be the white lamb with a pink ribbon.

Stampin Up Party - 04/18/09

This month, I was the host. I made 7-layer chicken casserole (Sande's recipe) and brought some fruit for our munches. Kim was the demonstrator and we worked on a lot of 3D projects using, yes, Sizzix BigShot. Oh, how I love my big shot. I have so many project ideas that my head is spinning. Below are the projects we worked on.My favorite project is the 3D box (box#2 die) with a little butterfly on top. Isn't it cute? I purchased the box#2 die so I should be getting it soon. I can make so many stuff with that die. I will probably use that for Anica's birthday favor. The oval is covered by a transparency film with the dimension of 2 5/8" x 1 5/8".
Jackie sent us a favor from her grandson's 1st birthday party. Isn't it cute? Maybe I will use the same idea for my son's 1st in November. I have those sizzix sizzlit dies.

Harriet gave us a special thank you cards that contain green tea bags. It's super neat. She had two styles and I took the one that I could copy (I have the stamp set she used).

I could not make it to Stampin' up Party. I was so bummed out I could not go but we did have a great time at the Marriott Ocean Club. Anica loves the children play area (pirate ship) there. It was Anica's third time and James' first time there. James really loves the water, too. Oh, I cannot wait to take my babies on our Alaskan cruise this summer. It's going to be so much fun.
